Everest

The main setting of the book is Mt. Everest. For the majority of the book, Peak is climbing Everest. Mt. Everest runs through Tibet and Nepal. Everest towers over the world at a staggering 29,035ft. Everest was once desribed by a climber as "Beautiful and gorgious, but don't be mislead because climbing it felt like heck. I have never seen so much snow, ice, and death in my life." We feel that this quote perfectly explain the conditions that Peak and the rest of his climbing team had to endure during their stay on Mt. Everest. Peak often emphasized on the weather being so harsh and the formidable conditions he and the rest of his team had to cope with.

New York City

This is where Peak and the rest of his family live. When his mom and Rolf got married they moved to New York where Rolf's job was. Peak liked New York, but wished he could get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
7 million people live in New York City making it a the most populous city in the United States. New York had five borrows, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, and the Bronx. The city is famous for its many iconic landmarks including the Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, Time Square, and Central Park (the nations largest city park). New York is also known for its yellow taxis, Broadway shows, and it souvenir shops. New York is like most big cities, it's crowded, dirty, and gives off a lot of exhaust fumes from traffic.
